Permanent Staff

Central London – Hybrid working of 3 days per week in the office and 2 days per week working from home

An Electrical Engineer is required to work for a large Energy company based in Central London on a permanent staff basis that will be a hybrid set up of 3 days per week in the office and 2 days per week from home.

As the Electrical Engineer, you will ideally have experience within power transmissions or power stations.

Responsibilities

This key role will report to the Electrical Discipline Lead and will have responsibility for the following:

  • As the Electrical Engineer, you will assist on preparation and check engineering procedures, specifications and standards.
  • Support preparation of:
    • Discipline basis of design and specifications.
    • Data sheets.
    • Requisitions.
    • Technical bid evaluations.
    • Detailed discipline drawings.
  • As the Electrical Engineer, you will check and review vendor proposals, documentation and drawings.
  • Support the Lead Electrical Engineer on Projects and Proposals.
  • Participate in vendor meetings.
  • Provide input to proposals. Provide input to man-hour and material cost estimates.
  • As the Electrical Engineer, you will provide Input to Construction Sub-Contract, evaluate bids and supervision of contractor.
  • Support other engineering activities specific to the Electrical design, such as :
  • Power system studies.
  • Single Line Diagrams
  • Load Summaries
  • Substation Layout Drawings
  • Material Take Offs and Priced Bill of Materials
  • Travel in the UK and overseas, for meetings, equipment testing and site technical support for projects.

Required experience

  • A degree level engineering qualification.
  • As the Electrical Engineer, you will have working experience of major electrical equipment items, including transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS, diesel generators, cabling and hazardous area equipment.
  • Basic understanding of hazardous area requirements, IEC 60079 and IP Part 15.  Selection of electrical equipment for hazardous areas.
  • As the Electrical Engineer, you will have a basic knowledge of short circuit analysis and load flow studies.
  • Basic understanding of design requirements for equipment layouts, earthing, lighting, cabling and electric heat tracing.
  • As the Electrical Engineer, you will have a basic understanding of design distribution network for Ethylene Plants and similar industrial applications.
  • Must be computer literate with a willingness to learn how to use software related to electrical design activities.
  • Able to review, interpret and work in accordance with Client/Company standards and procedures.
  • Self-motivated person keen to learn and work as part of a team with good communication skills.
